Organizations across the country are leading a massive effort to highlight the importance of advance healthcare decision-making, designating Wednesday, April 16, 2008 as the inaugural National Healthcare Decisions Day. Around the nation events will be held to provide information and tools for making advance healthcare decisions, sharing wishes with family, friends, and healthcare providers, and executing written healthcare directives (healthcare power of attorney and living will).
I strongly believe every person should be equipped with the tools to ensure their medical wishes are respected. By being prepared for advance healthcare decisions, we can not only make sure our wishes are respected and we receive the care we desire, but we can also protect our families from the turmoil of having to make these decisions for us and prevent disputes over these decisions.
To do my part in supporting National Healthcare Decisions Day, I am hosting an event at the Monticello Dunn Brothers. On April 16th, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. and from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. I will provide information on advance healthcare decision-making, answer questions, and assist in completing healthcare directives.
Please contact me for more information on this event, and stay tuned for more information and resources on National Healthcare Decisions Day.
